CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT AGRICULTURE

Controlled Environment Agriculture

Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) is the trending advance technology which enhances area with specific regulated parameters like temperature, pressure, light, airflow, segregation, humidity. It also provides protection from the outdoor factors that hamper growing conditions throughout the development of crops. CEA helps to protect crop with physical evolvement including less agriculture runoff components to traditional agriculture. It also drains air and brings fresh air with the supply of proper amount of water and nutrients.

Method Applied for Controlled Environment Agriculture

Hydroponic and Aeroponics are the method used for CEA. Hydroponic farming method usually done for plant growth in water rather than soil & nutrients added to water for healthier growth and maximum output. The plant root is submerged in soil free media with the utilization of some method used in plant growth and soil free medium. Aeroponics farming is growth for plants that grows with their roots exposed to air. Smart CEA is also done for the convenience of farmers by using mechanization & technologies.

CEA is also much reliable as they are not in extreme temperature & rainfall, no pest to eat crop, no damages are done. This pattern is used for the production and maximum produce in a large quantity. Some of the cultures are applied in unconditional production system that increase resource efficiency, less space used dynamic It establishes the process, improve process performance, improve operational efficiency, mitigate business risks, stabilizes operations.

CEA increases food safety by removing source of contamination. It is unaffected by outside environment conditions, and it eliminates the seasonality to create a stable market pricing for consumers and farmers and specific aspect of production is isolated while all variables remain the same with advanced and intensive form of hydroponically-based agriculture& optimize horticultural practices.

Advantages of CEA over traditional field farming

  • Water efficiency
  • Space use efficiency
  • Reduced transportation requirements
  • Reliable year-round production
  • Protection from adverse weather events
  • Reduce fertilizer runoff!
  • Pleasant working conditions

In future there is much scope in this field which will enhance the structure of agriculture.
